THE HORSE PUNCHED by an irate Newcastle fan following a match with near neigh(!)bours Sunderland in 2013 has bagged a promotion.
Bud the horse was saddled with huge public attention when he was punched by Barry Rogerson following the Magpies’ 3-0 reversal at the hands of their bitter local rivals two years ago.
However, far from being retired to stud, the Mirror report that Bud has crossed numerous hurdles to rise through the ranks and is now seemingly at the head of his field after being asked to help London’s Metropolitan Police’s mounted unit teach younger horses.
The 15-year old — who was uninjured in Rogerson’s attack — served with the West Yorkshire Police for eight years and, while he was not jockeying for a new position, his experience is set to prove invaluable.

While Bud will be sad to leave, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity for more stable employment.
